La Befana and Friends

This is yet another great piece from artist GrimQuiet on etsy. He also offered Krampus Lanterns you can see if you click on his sold items. This is my favorite new artist this year to watch for the spooky offerings.

Last night I was at a local holiday market and found this artist Pam Young. She makes delightfuly slighty dark items along with some stunning pieces. The pumpkin and crow and the gingerbread men ornaments. She had never heard of the movie Krampus so my new goal is to help her see it!

Behind the Scenes

Wrapping up and making room for the cemetery in storage. 1 and 2 inch pink insulation foam was used to make the gravestones, plinth, and candle shelves. The plinths were made to fit the angle of the grass bank and then the stones were set in the plinths. The fence pickets were cut out of 1/4 inch plywood.

Once the fence pickets were painted and attached to cross bars we faced the next challenge. The steep hill required a steep angle on the side fencing. Setting it in place while not sliding down the hill required a bit of balance.

We used outdoor candles in the family plot only we needed something to keep them level on the hill. Cut out and painted foam shelves to match the gravestones to hold the candles. There were additonal battery puck lights hidden behind the candles to shine up on the gravestones. The same lights we use in the pumpkins.

Once the cemtery was in place it was a bit treacherous to maneuver. Carefully inching down the hill to work on the upper stones. Pitched more lighting pucks down that hill and only came close once to doing the same. A grabber stick was how I moved things around and brought in the pumpkins at night.

It was a big project and now we make plans for next year. This year I made a list of repairs and paint touch ups to be comlpleted over next summer. The complete Halloween 2022 album is here.

The day after

Turn the sound up and you can here the rain. I was impressed with how many kids were out in the pouring rain for hours. I'm afraid it is cell phone video only this year. We should have shot better video Sunday night with a camera when it was dry out.

A break in the rain today so I took down all the pumpkins. Towels with so many things drying out. Came back in and sorted lighting for storage. The cemetery, fence, and scarecrow will stay up until I have help to take it down. Tomorrow starts the process of taking down the light strings on the porch.

Different view of the side of the house. I hope you all had a wonderful Halloween. We really enjoyed sitting on our porch with hot tea and blankets. Met more new neighbors. Halloween brings people together.

Thrill the World

Thrill the world took place in downtown again this year. I had to rush around to try and find a spot when I realized the set up was different. Kneeled down on the wet street to get a few pics and this video clip.

This was the greeter at a shop.

Pumpkin Molds

I was thrilled to read that another company started making veggie molds. Sad that they were not available when we had a garden. Good news for you gardeners.

ShellHawks Creations

This gorgeous creation is from ShellHawksCreations on etsy. Hand carved with that gorgeous green glaze. The scarecrow on the cup reminds me of our scarecrow. Photographed in front of the tins friends helped track down and ship to me. Gotta love Halloween fans.

Non stop rain for days is proving a challenge for lighting. I hot glued a ring around the flames on the battery candles in the family plot. Hoping they stay dry long enough to get us through Halloween. 60% chance of rain during prime trick or treating between 5 and 8. Next project is rigging somehting to keep the self serve candy dry.

John Derian German Collection

John Derian is the artist that had a line for Target. He has an excetional line of German made halloween paper mache pieces this year in his shop. Some of the collection can be seen here. The treat buckets are not on the site so you need to e-mail the shop.

The first 2 images are screen shots from the JohnDerian IG account. My Halloween budget was blown early on so I did not aquire a treat bucket this year. There is always next year.

The family plot was done Thursday night. Finishing a wreath today to hang on the fence. Editing photos to share. Now its mostly clean up and working on what to wear Halloween night. It will be wet and cold so I need to rig something to keep the self serve candy dry!

The family plot

A couple of quick phone photos hubby took tonight. Isabelle will have garlic draped over her gravestone. Final stone was set tonight and the lighting mostly in place. We have a lot of rain on the way. The cemetery pumpkins and most of the candles are not waterproof. Scrambling to find a solution.

The plot is on a steep slope so it has presented some challenges. Lost a puck light last night that rolled down the hill in to the intersection. It almost went in the storm drain. The things we do for art and Halloween!

GrimQuiet

Delightful paper mache lanterns from GrimQuiet on etsy. Take a look at his sold items. He is @grimquiet on Instagram where he posts when shop updates will happen.

There are 3 buckets and today I was fortunate to grab a skeleton bucket to complete the set. Loved adding all these treats to my colletion this Halloween season.

City Flowers video tour

The Katherine's Collection Shakespeare collection is featured in the begining. More average merchandise instead of the over the top Halloween decor of years past.

Back

Neighborhood man eating plant!

Falling behind on posting here. So many things to see and do this month. The neighborhood is going all in this year.

Two Mushrooms

In the continuing saga of supporting Halloween artists, this is Two Mushrooms . Her emboroidered pieces are popular and sell out quickly. She has a Halloween shop update on Friday the 7th.

Having trouble with the video posting so it is here.

The light inside is from Oriental Trading Company. Sold out for the season now. It is a different flame effect a little faster than most flame lights. It looks good as the batteries wear down to a more muted flame. Using the lights in 4 of the pumpkins this year. At a distance it looks more like wind over a candle flame.

Busy time of year!

Running amuck trying to get everything up and done so I can enjoy the rest of the season. Lanterns went up in the foyer tonight. This beauty is an older lantern that was sold at The Vintage Halloween store.

Spent saturday braiding the front porch garland. This is the big section across the front of the porch. Ornament garland, festooning, and lights. Big project that is up now. Ran out of festooning and will finish the light garlands hopefully tomorrow.

Work in progress. Really hope it gets done this weekend.

Nightmerriment

Etsy artist Nightmerriment. Creates these amazing twig like poppets and larger creatures. I was fortunate to buy the witch and death only the pumpkin head I wanted sold out. No problem, the artist made another one for me. Take a look at the sold section and you can put in a custom request.

Such a mischievous grin! The unique materials used makes each poppet one of a kind.

The Gift Shop

The gift shop attached to the Ace Hardware store has fall and Halloween out. The gal at the shop said more Halloween is on the way.

I was afraid to ask how much is this moon with cat? Trying to behave myself.

The skeleton boys are on a spring they bobble nicely.

Mondays am I right?

The only thing I brought home was the tiny wings spread bat plate.

Fred Meyer Halloween

Halloween inventory is going out earlier than usual with the back to school supplies. This blow mold black cat with glowing eyes was one of my favorite items.

The cheerful terra cotta pumpkins are starting to make an appearance.

A different take on the hands with an eye in the plam that has a color changing LED.

Promising collection this year. Looking forward to the towels and dishes.

More Lowe's

Love the old fashioned blow mold lights and this more serious looking pair.

Lowe's version of the giant skeleton is dressed as a mummy. That reminds me the giant skeletons from Home Depot were spotted on top shleves, still in pallet wrap, waiting to be stocked. Looks like my store has 6.

The flame tiki torches are back and the more sinister looking pumpkins. The mouth opening is a little too big on the tall pumpkins and you see the LED. If I wanted one more project I'd put diffusion or scrim behind the eyes, nose, and mouth.

Huge collection of Nightmare Before Christmas filling almost 2 giant sections. The carvable foam pumpkins are very spendy this year. Very happy I bought extra last year on sale!

Lowe's

Lowe's is selling Haunted Mansion Halloween quickly. The Madame Leota tombstone hubby sent me a photo of yesterday was sold out today. Can't find any of the merchandise on the website.

When you press the skull button it lights up and plays Grim Grinning Ghosts!

A lot of fun stuff this year. More pics tomorrow. The Haloween 2022 photo album is here.

Lucrezia

New grave this year. This one is heavy. Storing it for the year I was crawling around on a raised shelf section of the basment trying to...
