Swatching Fall

The pumpkin on the left is new from Lowe's. Pumpkin on the right is a thrift store find from 5 years ago? I like its base color and then there is darker paint spatter on the top. Going to test with a toothbrush to see if that is the right size for the effect.

Paint swatches I brought home from Lowe's tonight. All the Funkins will get at least 2 different exterior house paint colors. Contrasting paint spattered and or sponged on. Some of the stems will look OK at a distance. The house sits high off the street. Time to get moving on the process so we can start carving.

Fall is coming. The leaves and acorns off the trees in our yard.

Pottery Barn and Harry Potter

Pottery barn Halloween has a basic and old fashioned look this year.

Harry Potter fans might be delighted to know that Pottery Barn, Pottery Barn Kids, Pottery Barn Teen, and Williams Sonoma all have Harry Potter merchandise. Several pieces work well with Halloween decor.

The Hedwig Lamp is perched between our chairs in the living room. Replaced the white shade with a bronze shade.

Goodwill and Michaels-low stock

The haul from Goodwill today. All for $15.

A plastic bag for $4 contained 6 fall garlands. Enough to start the base for my bannisters. There were several surprise small decorations wrapped up in the garlands. We are going to be carving and painting Funkins for weeks!

Michaels had the made in store wreaths and other decorations out. We noticed after the 50% off sale last week that some Halloween items had very low stock or were sold out! The bottle cap moon sign was gone. Ordering on the web site is still an option.

Flaming Pumpkin

The new bigger and heavier flaming pumpkin at Lowe's.

The new pumpkin is huge compared to the old flaming pumpkins. I own 3 of the Ichabod pumpkins and this large pumpkin does not look as good as the Ichabod pumpkins. The size is impressive. Waiting for the pre and post Halloween sales.

Cool new item in projections including blinking red eyes from Gemmy. The green ones are pretty cool too.

The inflatable projections were interesting.

JoAnn Craft supplies

Something new and odd in the styrofoam category, torsos!

Torso with guts has some potential. The female torso is a bit of a mystery. Mr. Old Fashion Halloween thought it could work for a La Catrina look.

The cool wiggly eyes are back and include the dragon eyes!

Trying to match up merchandise in the store with the web site. I was taking photos as the poor gal was trying to put things on the shelf. Found some cool Tarot Card fabric that was not in stock at my store. This has potential as a border on a tablecloth.

Michaels Old School

The sign is shaped like a bottle cap.

Large selection of old fashioned pieces this year.

Not a great photo. The sign is gorgeous. The signs were calling to me this year. The moon sign might jump in my cart with a 40% off coupon.

Fortune Telling

There is a delightful collection of Fortune Teller signs and figures at Michaels.
