Found this wonderful box of matches at a health food store last night. The graphics are beautiful. Different image of Alexander the Seer on each side. Great inexpensive display piece for a fortune tellers or magicians display. It blends really well with my vintage pieces.

Clearance Skull Pillow
The skull Halloween pillow from World Market dropped to only $2.99 today. Loved my pillows from last year. If you are a cost plus world market member there is a 20% off coupon found in your account rewards. Bought 3 pillows to use on a day bed for $12.93 including shipping. Update: The pillows are now one penny!

The after Halloween Sales
This cute little head is on a spring and was bobbing all the way down the road. It made me happy watching the people behind me in traffic smile.
The pair was irresistible on 70% clearance. The baby cat might hang out in the living room year round.
The lanterns are color changing with a remote control and timer. At only $2 they jumped in my cart. The skull bottle was a $1. Two damask tablecloths at 60 X 102 inches. $3 each. The table clothes might turn in to yardage for a costume. All found at Fred Meyer owned by Kroger. The down side is I have to find somewhere to store the latest swag.
Bookcase
More recycled materials for the bookcase this year. The only new items were the the Witches Garden sign and the skeletal taper candles. The purple glow in the back ground is the infinity bat light on the other side of the wall.
The satin glass cherubic bust is still one of my favorite gifts from my husband. Added a second red flicker light this year. Love it with an even brighter evil red glow. The entire Halloween 2018 photo album is here.

Antiques Roadshow Kooky & Spooky episode
Weller Dickens Ware Skull Humidor, ca. 1905
If you missed the Kooky & Spooky episode of Antiques Roadshow you can watch it on the web site. Items featured from previous episodes with updated prices.
There was so much good October programming I am still trying to catch up with viewing recorded episodes. We watched Sabrina and The Haunting of Hill House on Netflix. A few nit picky complaints about both series only we still enjoyed both shows.

Inside
The mantel and the bookcase in the living room were mostly made up of items on hand. The only new items on the mantel were the palmistry hand and the Tarot pillar candle. The fabric for the swag is off an old bolt of fabric from Bethany Lowe.
The 2 suitcases are reproductions used for displaying merchandise. Part of a set of 4 that we used on the road for displays at live shows. That old lamp shade may or may not be restored. The longer it sits around the more I Love the skeletal carcass. Fortune telling books and games from my collection.
The little glass Jack-O-Lanterns on the porch were a dollar store find a few years back.
Outside
We set a record with 8 kids trick or treating this year! Better visibility from the road with the projections on the house. A small Gryffindor wizard, with owl, and her mum were my favorites. They both asked about every single decoration outside.
My husband took the camera to work with the Halloween photos on the memory card. Got my pics back today!

Happy Halloween
Fingers crossed the rain will stop before the trick or treating begins! I still need to hang lanterns on the porch and shoot photos. Have a magical Halloween!

Candles
This set of skeletal taper candles is now 50% off at World Market. The taper candles were one of the few things I added to my collection this year.
Michaels and JoAnn now have Halloween at 70% off. Good deals on last minute shopping. Carved my great pumpkin contribution last night. Placing it tonight.

Yard Display in Portland
Yesterday we took a public tour of this mausoleum in Portland, Oregon. Not all of the mausoleum is open to the public so it was a real treat to see sections of it dating back to its opening in 1901.
Across the street was this yard display.

Around the house
The sunny fall days will change over to rain next week. I wanted to get a pic of the scarecrow with the leaves changing. He still needs lighting.
The final squash count! A little preview with a section of the mantel revealed.

Dollar Tree Solar Lights
Discovered these cute solar lights at Dollar Tree. They will hold a charge for a little over 24 hours. Nice warm orange glow.
Removed from the stake the lights fit in a candlestick holder. The serpent candlesticks are from the 2017 Target collection.
Experimenting with the lights in the corn stalks. The lights need to be charged only the solar panels are hidden on the back. Using clips might be the solution for easy removal. Charge during the day and replace at night.

Witch House 2018
Our favorite local yard display. Next week I will try to get night photos with all the lighting. More photos in the 2018 Halloween Album on Flickr.

The Pumpkin Patch
Gorgeous fall day at the pumpkin patch yesterday. Vince Woods Farm is still my favorite family run patch. This was the first time we had been on a weekend. It was crazy busy. Picked out 2 good size carving pumpkins for home and 2 smaller pumpkins for The Great Pumpkin Project. Bought cornstalks and gourds to go with the old hay bail. The porch decorating is still a work in progress. Next project is hanging lanterns.

Halloween Sales
Fred Meyer this year had corn and millet growing in big tubs. Nice concept if you want a living display on your porch for the season.
We were traveling last week in California. Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween party at Disneyland and Halloween Horror Nights at Universal studios. Mr. Old Fashion Halloween is teaching the History of Haunted Attractions class again this fall. We had to do some field research.
Last Friday we were at Paramount Studios for the VIP day tour with a break for dinner. We came back for the after dark tour that takes place on the back lot and in Hollywood forever cemetery. I do highly recommend the after dark tour if you can still get tickets. A lot of walking quickly in the 2.5 hours! More on the adventures later.

BEATSYNC Halloween Lights
Walmart has BEATSYNC lights that sync with music for $5.98. The web site only shows the Christmas colors. The Halloween lights blink orange and purple. The lights do a pretty good job of blinking with the music. The light reacts easily to clapping and cackling sounds! Nice compliment to voice activated props.
On my way to the Disneyland Halloween Party on October 1st. Trying out the lights to wear at the party. Making my own version of "GLOW WITH THE SHOW" mouse ears that will blink with the music of the shows.

Target Infinity Bat
My favorite Halloween treat, so far, this year is the Infinity Bat Light at Target. Nice little optical illusion.
Mr. Old Fashion Halloween thinks I am kidding about using it as the Yule tree topper!
Blogspot stopped mailing me comments some time last year. A back log of comments has been posted. My apologies for thinking it was just REALLY quiet out there!

Spirit Halloween Store 2018
My local store opened mid August. Its always a slow set up with new stock added through the beginning of September. Not as many new offerings this year.
More photos in the Halloween 2018 album on flickr.

Martha Stewart Halloween at Michaels
3 set collection of tableware and decorations this year.
My favorite decoration is this set of 3 Deaths-head moths. They are beautiful. The wings move and the gold highlights catch the light. $12.99 for a set of 3. I'll post pics when they are up in the living room.
JoAnn and Michaels have most of their Halloween out now in my town. Michaels is just missing pricing. Went a little photo crazy with both a new phone and camera. Slowly uploading all of it to the 2018 Halloween Album.

Chalkboard Tombstones
Halloween 2018 is fast approaching and I am having trouble finding motivation this year. We are actively looking for a new house. Found a house, priced out of our budget, with an elementary school at the end of the block! Imagine all the trick or treaters!
Making chalkboard tombstones is on my to do list. Fairly easy to make and the ability to change the sayings is a good idea. Something new for the path to the front porch this year.

Warehouse Prop and Set Dressing Sale
Today we were fortunate enough to attend day 1 of a huge warehouse sale. Liquidating the props, furniture, set dressing, and wardrobe from the show The Librarians and Leverage. You can find more information on the sale here.
There was a newer coffin going for $350 out in front of the warehouse. Sadly, we missed seeing the sarcophagus. The lines were long and the warehouse was 90 degrees. Some very dedicated fans scoring great deals. Many recognizable items from The Librarians. Trying to down size for a move so we didn't bring any treasures home. Some of my pics here. Local new station story about the sale.
