Cabinet of Curiosities
One of my favorite purchases for my office. The cabinet of curiosities in progress. I inherited some of my great grandfathers dental tools. The best piece is a 1910 German wax dental model in poor shape.
The plan is to stabilize the model since the eye ball hangs down with no wax to keep it in place. There are 2 more jaw sections that must have gone in an additional display. A pristine copy can be seen here. The label and map are missing from my display. It sat out in a garage in CA since 1960!
The cabinet lingered in a shop for months. A second hand furniture store that we try to stop in for a look once a month. When the quarantine started the shop was closed. Payed for it over the phone and the shop even delivered it! A years quest for the right cabinet and it looks like it has always been in the room.

Frankenstein on Stage
Fathom events featured this 2011 stage production in movie theaters last year. We missed getting to see it. We watched Benedict Cumberbatch as the monster last night and tonight is Jonny Lee Miller. They switch rolls as Frankenstein and the monster every night until May 8. The actors took different approaches to the roll of the monster. Fun to compare and contrast the performances.
The staging is beautiful. The National Theatre does not have a large performance space and yet they make incredible use of it with a revolve and elevator. A cyclorama wraps the back of the stage for a wash of light. The house, audience, lighting that extends up on to the stage is hundreds of incandescent old fashioned light bulbs that are pixel mapped. That might have been my favorite design element. The full body make up is a work of art.
Directed by Danny Boyle this adaptation of the book runs 2 hours. The productions are a delightful treat and I hope you get to watch one or both on YouTube. Please consider supporting either the National theatre or local theaters in your area. Working in the arts is difficult under normal circumstances. It will be a difficult comeback for many regional theaters that employ hundreds and pump millions in to local economies with tourism.

National Theater UK-Free Plays
A real treat weekly from the National Theater on youtube. This week is One Man, Two Guvnors staring James Corden. We watched it last night and it was delightful. Great set and costume design along with a talented cast. Next weeks production is Jane Eyre.
While we were are in Quarantine mode I will be posting things from the arts, artists, and projects around the house.

Supporting Artists
This set arrived today from TarargonStudio.
The vase/pot is so tactile and looks beautiful on my desk. The mussel geodes were a delightful add on to my order. Tried to get a close up in the sun so you could see how gorgeous they look.
With my husband home from teaching we are crossing projects off the list. Once we get through house projects we might add a new Halloween project. I don't know if Halloween will involve trick or treating this year or not. We will still decorate the house interior and exterior.
With a compromised immune system we are taking great care to avoid contact with the outside world. I hope you all are safe and healthy.
