Great unboxing video showing the new goodies can be found here. Plotting and planning is in progress for a 2017 trip to Disneyland for Halloween. Illness meant a cancelation last year. We decided to wait until Halloween next year after all the major construction is finished.
JoAnn has some really bright battery power rice light sets in different colors. 25 lights per strand and the purple is a nice dark purple. First set I have come across that was bright enough to see in daylight and still have a deep color. All the light sets have a test button so you can see what they look like in store.
Great costume potential with these sets. A black tulle veil draped over the lights would give them a soft glow. The second photo was taken on a cloudy afternoon indoors. You can find this set here on the JoAnn web site.

Several wood cut outs that you paint. Some of the pieces like this little tombstone come with color changing lights.
Foam heads, hands, skulls, bones, signs, and dress forms. There is a hand out on the foam aisle for making things with the foam pieces.

We talk about painting a scenic drop for the front porch. Mr. Old Fashion Halloween is a scenic designer and painter. Technically, its probably just me that hopes he wants to paint one. A lot of work but the canvas can be rolled up and stored to use every year. Its already August and I need to decide soon what the big outside project is this year.
The light up coffin sign is one my favorites this year.
As a bonus an employee had left the shelf display map under some trays. I had a great time playing with all the goodies and taking close to 50 photos. More photos of Michaels are still going up at my 2016 Halloween Album.
What I like about this felt table runner is the many decorating possibilities. Sewing it on the edge of a plain tablecloth to use as a border. Cutting it up in to sections and wrapping around large vases. Wrapped around clear containers with a candle to cast haunted house patterns on a wall. Hanging the runner as a banner on the front of a fireplace mantle or along the back of the mantle.

My JoAnn store has started squeezing summer out and filling the shelves and end caps with fall and Halloween. The pillows this year have lovely graphics. The gold really stands out against the black fabric.

I am late to the party this year with a very good excuse. In a whirlwind 4 week period I was diagnosed with early stage colon cancer, had surgery, and found out it had not spread to the lymph nodes. 2 weeks since surgery today. Feeling very grateful and excited for Halloween this year!
During my recovery we watched Stranger Things on Netflix. Highly recommended for a great homage to 1980s horror movies.
