The painted drops or walls used in the background for the kids costumes caught my eye.
This scene behind the Happy Halloween Banner is one of my favorites with the cats.
We talk about painting a scenic drop for the front porch. Mr. Old Fashion Halloween is a scenic designer and painter. Technically, its probably just me that hopes he wants to paint one. A lot of work but the canvas can be rolled up and stored to use every year. Its already August and I need to decide soon what the big outside project is this year.

Would it be shaped to go around the window, or go over it? And is there a certain name for the canvas used for this?
It would cover the kitchen window is the only down side. We only decorate one end of the porch up to the front door. Cotton Duck. You can see a variety of theatrical back drops here:

I love it! I hope Mr. Old Fashion Halloween says yes!
That would be very cool if you painted a scenic drop for Halloween this year. Pottery Barn ought to sell a wallpaper version of what we're seeing here with the cats and the gate.
By the way, I wanted to tell you that I took your advice and set up a little insect watering station today. I took a pic of it and posted it on my last blog post:
