Vote Now to Select a Disney Parks Blog Wallpaper

The 45th anniversary of the Disneyland Haunted Mansion is next week. The Disney Parks blog wants you to vote on a Wallpaper design to be used next week on the blog.

This design was my choice. Love Madame Leota but this graphic image was stronger for me.

More Michaels

The books are similar to last years offerings made of resin. The how many days to Halloween count down calendars were cute. Zombie sign on a stick! Made me long for The Walking Dead to return this fall. How are they going to get out of the box car?

Mickey’s Halloween Party at Disneyland Park Tickets on sale today!

Placeholder for next year so I know when tickets go on sale. The plan is to spend Halloween at Disneyland in 2015. Its the 60th anniversary of Disneyland so there may be bonuses for being in the park for Halloween.

Michaels Halloween 2014

Containers for the Halloween home. The little metal canisters were my favorites. The skull bottles are really nice and the black satin glass skull bottle is heavy. A 50% off coupon was in my snail mail box today for Michaels.

Follow up on Glimmer Lights

This is a follow up to my original post here about Glimmer Lights at Pier One. Bought a remote and the warm white LED strand to play with at the store. This is part of my Day of the Dead Headdress from Steamcon. Draped a string loosely to see what it would look like.

The best thing about the remote is it has a dimmer! This photo is on full and the one below is on the dim setting.

The only down side is the wire is very thin and fragile. Not practical for a lot of movement. The lights would work best for a seated actor in a haunt or stationary prop. The purple and orange light strands will be in Pier One stores next week.

Haunted Mansion-Themed Merchandise Shop

Opening This Fall in Magic Kingdom Park at Walt Disney World Resort. Image source and more info here.

Lanterns

Paper Lanterns are my weak spot when it comes to Halloween ephemera. This lovely one is available from the Vintage Halloween Store. Hanging, stacked, on a mantel, or even the floor with light strands strung through them paper lanterns make a big impact. Over the years my lantern displays inside and outside have been my favorite Halloween decorations.

Martha Stewart at Joann Fabrics

This was the only Halloween in the store. The rest was all fall decor. The cork stopper test tubes are back. The pumpkin sleeve you slip over a pumpkin or funkin for a quick dress up looks interesting. Best guess is a drawstring to tighten the fabric sleeve. Its a guess since you can't tell from the package. 3 different packages of the sleeves with different designs.

Glimmer Lights

Thank to Jen at the Vintage Halloween Collector Blog for posting about the new Halloween offerings at Pier 1. Found this light string in purple and orange on the site.

Love these little battery operated grain of rice size LEDs on a copper wire held on with a bit of epoxy. They are bright and look fabulous on costumes. I own the same lights from the Martha Stewart Christmas line in white, red, and blue. Hidden behind a little piece of tulle or gauze you get a nice diffused glow.

What I love about the the new Pier 1 set is they now can be used with a remote control. Pier 1 carries a remote for their pillar candles that will work with this light string. In a live chat with customer service they confirmed the remote on sale for $6.36 will work with this light string. Extremely handy to save battery life when an actor is not viewable to an audience. No fumbling with a switch on the battery pack. The light strands should be in stores in August.

First Look at New Haunted Mansion Merchandise Appearing This Fall at Disney Parks

The shoes! I cam imagine shuffling around the manor in those purple beauties. My second favorite item is the tea cup. Totally impractical for packing back home on a flight and yet I still want it. Images of the new T-shirts along with these items can be found here. If you can't make it to the parks some of the merchandise will be online after it debuts in the parks. The current collection of HM online merchandise is available at the Disney Store.

Hurst Public Library Halloween 2013

A long time reader and fan of this blog was kind enough to send me some photos of her collection. Every year she loans her collection to the Hurst Public Library in Texas. A big thank you goes out to B for sharing these images.

Williams-Sonoma Halloween 2014

Williams-Sonoma has started adding their Halloween selections. My favorite is this plate set. The oval design is different and with plate hangers they would look good on my dining room wall. In the table scape image you can see there is a big skull punchbowl and mug set. The mugs are up but not the punchbowl so hopefully more goodies are on the way. The entire collection can be seen here.

Michaels Halloween 2014 -The Skulls

This end cap shelf is always a few rows down from the main Halloween decor. The display is usually a repeat of old favorites with some new additions.

New this year was the stack of skulls candle with flicker flame for $7.99. 11 inches tall and it has a nice flicker. There were 2 on the shelf and I did show some restraint and only took one home.

This lantern got my attention from across the store. Its canvas with a plastic insert and metal base. 12 inches tall and about 5-6 inches across for $19.99. Its got a contemporary look and will probably sit out under the covered deck year round. Remember to use the apps for stores and show the coupons on your phone or tablet. There is always a coupon.

Be Prepared for ‘Villains Unleashed’ at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

50 Disney Villans in the Disney Hollywood Studios park on August 23rd. Be still my beating heart. More info on the event here.

Two heads are better than one

Michael's has this great end cap with $6.99 female and $9.99 male heads! Its so rare to see male foam heads. Might have to go back and nab one as there were only 2 left at my store.

Hanging next to the heads were these wonderful bundles of burlap. Bought a 10 foot roll of the skulls for $4.99 with a 20% off coupon. Nice edge finish and the skulls are a deep black. The rolls would look great around corn stalks. The burlap is soft and flexible enough to be used on costumes. A pageant sash or bandolier were my first thought. There was more shopping and photos will follow in the next blog entry.

Deep breath. Yes, KTLA 5 news is running a contest to stay in the Haunted Mansion overnight! This article has the questions you will need to answer before filling out the entry form so read it first. Just in case you can't answer every question. My guess is they are going to be flooded with entries. If one of you wonderful people wins the trip its for a family of 4 so can you please bring me? Pottery Barn Kids Halloween 2014

A sampling of the new items at Pottery Barn Kids. Its early yet so they will most likely add more. Found here. The tablecloth this year with the black and white contrast is striking. The bat chandelier is a new take on an old design but I want it anyway!

Silhouettes

Found here on etsy. Stumbled across this listing while researching paper projects. Like the idea of using actual family and pet silhouettes to make a Vampire display. Large window cut outs back lit would be a fun project.

T-Clip Never Lose The End Of Your Tape

Only 68 hours to go on this Kickstarter project. Canadian inventor with a handy little clip on tape cutter and end keeper. A lot more compact than most tape gun cutters. Taping those last minute Halloween projects this could really save time and fingernails.

We finally got to see the trailer at the theater last weekend. I let out a little gasp it was so beautiful on the big screen. Wish it came out the beginning of October. Its going to be hard to wait that long.

The Return

Its July and I have been absent from the blogger world for far too long. Family obligations and illness zapped my energy to create and share Halloween Goodness. Reading blogs was infrequent as well. Trying to play catch up to see what is going on with the rest of you.

Sadly we didn't even start the garden this year and that includes the pumpkin patch! Going to live vicariously through stories of everyone else's pumpkin growing.

The original plan for Halloween 2014 was to spend Halloween at my home the Haunted Mansion in Disneyland. That will have to wait for 2015. Money for that adventure is now being funneled to the Europe trip.

Yes, we are heading back to Great Britain and France this December spending Christmas in London and New Years in Paris. The fur kids are not happy about this plan as their 3rd favorite human is unable to to keep them entertained. The hunt for a house sitter is on!

Lucrezia

New grave this year. This one is heavy. Storing it for the year I was crawling around on a raised shelf section of the basment trying to...
