Broom Corn

Found the prettiest corn stalks this year. This might be broom corn? The purple "brooms" are really heavy. This was the first year Vince Woods Farms carried these shorter stalks of corn. Edit: We have a positive ID thanks to Mr. Macabre. Thanks!

Yep, you got it right, that is broom corn; I grew some myself this year and it was beautiful. Birds adore the seedheads. It's not actually 'corn' but a member of the sorghum cane family. That's my know-it-all nerd moment for the day.

It doesn't seem to get as tall as corn but it is SO pretty! Thanks for the positive ID. Will put the stalks out for the birds post Halloween. :0 )
