Pumpkin Patch

Powdery mildew was my nemesis this year. I still had 3 beautiful plants that produced 7 good size pumpkins. 2 are still green and getting bigger by the day. The vine traveled up hill so the green guys are near the top of the first photo. We have some hot weather tomorrow in the upper 90s. We plan to harvest the orange pumpkins this weekend. The vines have died back.

More photos of the garden and Halloween goodies can be found in the 2015 Halloween album on flickr. My posts are fewer this season and I hope to pick up the pace soon. In June I was in a car accident. Physical therapy twice a week is about to drop down to one day a week. Looking forward to more hours of Halloween time.

We had the nasty powdery mildew as well this year. So far my vines have only produced 3 - I think that's going to be it for this year sadly. Take care!

What a delightful garden - I don't think I have ever seen your yard before.

Mrsduncanmahogany,

I treated with liquid copper fungicide a little too late. It works as a good preventative and will help keep the fungus back with weekly use. Must be sprayed on leaves back and front. Milk works but you have to use it daily to coat leaves. Too much work for me. :o ) Make sure you rotate the pumpkins next year to a new spot to prevent the return of powdery mildew. Good Luck!
